4WD runs into crowd

CHILDREN were among those airlifted to hospital after a four-wheel-drive lost control at the Dalyston Mud Run this afternoon.

Six people were injured after the driver lost control while tackling the muddy track and collided with the 2000 strong crowd, Victoria Police said.

Two were airlifted to hospitals in Melbourne with non-life threatening injuries.

Police and paramedics attended the incident, and police are now investigating.

The event was held at the Dalyston Recreation Reserve and is a round of competition staged by the Australian 4WD Mud Racing Association.

The vehicle pictured competed in the 2012 race.
