Beach not just sand and surf

CAPE Paterson offered even more to families on Saturday when the Cape Family Festival was staged.

The event at the Wonthaggi Surf Life Saving club was staged to raise funds towards upgrading the club’s facilities.

More than 2000 people passed through, inspecting 45 market stalls all offering quality wares, with some stallholders travelling from as far as Bendigo for the occasion.

The festival was held by the club in conjunction with Wonthaggi women Liz Gough and Maureen Alford.

Local musicians created a relaxed atmosphere and beach activities offered frivolity for young and old.

“It was festive and everyone was happy. It was great to see so many people happy,” Liz said.
