Dancers dazzle

THE talented young performers from Lisa Pellin dancers wowed audiences in their annual concert on Sunday.

The concert ran extremely well and beckoned a full house to the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre for the matinee.

Lisa Pellin, head of the South Gippsland dance school, was incredibly proud of all the dancers on the day.

“I am so proud of what they achieved in such a short time,” she said.

“It’s hard to get something like this together in six months, especially when you have dancers at different levels. They all did an amazing job.”

The theme of this year’s performance was ‘A walk on the red carpet’, and included songs and dance numbers inspired by the Academy Awards, the Oscars, the Grammys and the Emmys.

The dancers began rehearsal in February and achieved amazing accomplishments in the tight timeframe.

The concert also featured a vast range of dazzling costumes, some of which were sewn specifically for the performance.

Ms Pellin said the show was successful and the annual display would continue to be a midyear performance.

“Having it at this time of the year allows the dancers that enjoy being part of Lyric Theatre’s production to do both,” she said.

“We will still have our end of year display and presentation at the end of the year at Mesley Hall.”

Ms Pellin said the beautiful concert included a video presentation to celebrate the studio’s 25th anniversary.

“I would like to thank the parents, students and well wishers for their incredible support over the years,” she said.

There is plenty more on the calendar for Lisa Pellin Dancers, with the Great Southern Star Eisteddfod and ballet exams still to come.

Childhood favourite: the young stars of Junior One from Lisa Pellin Dancers dazzled audiences in their Bananas in Pyjamas performance.
