A BUSHFIRE started in the northern area of Wilsons Promontory National Park on Tuesday, January 29.

The fire was quickly contained by fire suppression activities on the ground and from the air, and is no longer active.

Five Mile Road was closed and there was no public access to Millers Landing, Vereker Outlook or overnight hikes in the north of the Prom while fire suppression continued.

The Prom was not evacuated, however Parks Victoria reminded the community to monitor conditions through the VicEmergency app.
