Book Week fun
SCHOOLS around South Gippsland celebrated Book Week last week, with a range of fun activities.
The Star is pleased to present a pictorial marking the value of stories. After all, that’s what we do!
- Dressed up: Chelsea Webber was excited to meet the White Rabbit from Alice In Wonderland, who was really her Year 2 teacher Emma Wood, at Newhaven College.
- IIn the spirit: St Laurence’s Primary school staff joined in the fun of Book Week. Rhonda Mackie was a witch, Rosemarie Archer dressed up as Pocahontas, Margaret Gatehouse a book fairy, Fiona Dunning Little Red Riding Hood and Mikaela Thorp a garbage bag fairy.
- Cheery: young Khye was the happiest looking gnome in the St Laurence’s Book Week parade. He just kept smiling.
- Entranced: these young girls loved watching their school mates parade in their outfits. They are Jorja Warren, Aliarna Wright and Mia Schneidruk.
- Fun: Aidan Pouw and Matt Fowkes entered into the spirit of the book parade.
- Good look: teacher Judy Ryan as the Ugly Sister at St Laurence’s.
- Good fun: Connor Brown and his great tuft of red hair enjoyed the Book Week parade at St Laurence’s.
- Quiz masters: congratulations to The Hunger Games quiz winners at Leongatha Secondary College were James Fraser, Alex Jones, Celina Alba and Hannah Thorson.
- Teachers in costume: at Wonthaggi North Primary School were Linda Pellizzer and student teacher Genevieve Elt dressed up as Bananas in Pyjamas while assistant principal Loree-Lee Jamieson came as Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians.
- Characters galore: students from grades Prep to 6 showing off their fantastic costumes along with Grade 1 teachers Linda Pellizzer and Genevieve Elt at Wonthaggi North Primary School.
- Getting into character: Luke Bramley, Leah Zappa, Emily Turton, Koby and Deegan Wood, Levi Jones and Devlin Burnell had some fantastic costumes for Book Week at Wonthaggi North PS.
- Weird and the wonderful: Kurt Brown, Thomas Murray, Jemma Rutjens, Grace Steevens, Luke Bowler and Gypsi Tiziani-Simpson with the Bananas in Pyjamas at Wonthaggi North PS.
- Visitors from Wonderland: Elly Wingfield as Alice and Luke Bowler as the Mad Hatter found inspiration in the story Alice in Wonderland at Wonthaggi North Primary School.
