Rainfall from 20-30mm was recorded across the region in the 24 hours to 9am today, with isolated totals of 56 mm at Wilsons Promontory.
Areas of rain are expected mainly in the Latrobe and Thomson catchments during Friday and into Saturday, morning with heavier falls likely near Wilsons Promontory.
Rainfall totals of around 40 mm have been forecast, with isolated totals of up to 75 mm possible on the ranges.
The forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises with the possibility of minor flooding developing over west and south Gippsland during Saturday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is monitoring the situation and will issue further warnings if necessary.
Sheep farmers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and strong southwesterly winds are expected in west and south Gippsland today. There is a high risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
