Fireworks may frighten pets
PET owners are urged to look out for their dogs this New Year’s Eve.
Animal welfare organisation, Animal Aid, is urging all pet owners to consider the safety and wellbeing of their pets as fireworks may send pets into a state of panic.
Even pets that would normally be easily contained may go to great lengths to seek safety and find a way to escape.
With both legal and illegal fireworks displays expected in Inverloch this Saturday night and in other holiday hot spots in South Gippsland, many pets are likely to be traumatised and may end up on the streets in harm’s way.
Dogs could be taken to council pounds and those who are micro-chipped, registered or have a name-tag may have a higher chance of being reunited with their owners.
Animals without identification struggle to be found by their owners.
