Helping the Salvos

Helping out: LSC Year 11 students Georgie Wray-McCann and Phoebe Kuhne, with the Salvation Army”s Martyn Scrimshaw, will be door knocking for the Red Shield Appeal.

STUDENTS from local colleges will be doing their bit for the Salvation Army’s Red Shield
Appeal.

About 40 students at Leongatha Secondary College and South Coast Christian College will hopefully door knock in the region. At LSC the SRC is organising collection teams for the weekend. Two LSC students ready for the challenge are Georgie Wray-McCann and Phoebe Kuhne. Last year Georgie gave door knocking a go and found people were willing to help due to the Salvation Army’s prominence in the community.

Thirty students from the secondary college took part last year. Anyone who would like to help with door knocking for a couple of hours on May 23 or 24 is welcome. The Salvos hope to have more than 100,000 collectors Australia-wide to collect $9.3 million. Overall the Red Shield Appeal is aiming to raise $73 million as part of the appeal. People wishing to donate can call the Salvation Army on 13 72 58 or visit salvos.org.au.

Donations can also be made at any Westpac branch, or by posting your cheque to PO Box 9888 in your capital city.
