- Top notch: Kilcunda-Bass’ Tim Smith celebrates with team-mate Danny Wells. The semi-final marked Wells’ 50th game with the club.
KILCUNDA-Bass Football Club will aim for back-to-back premierships after defeating Fish Creek in today’s second semi-final at Foster by just 10 points.
The Panthers led throughout the second half and despite Fish Creek bringing the game to within four points, the Panthers outplayed the Kangaroos in the final term.
Kilcunda-Bass players were clear to seize loose balls, won contests and converted scoring opportunities.
At the final siren, Kilcunda-Bass was 11.11.77 to Fish Creek’s 9.13.67.
After the game, Kilcunda-Bass coach Steven O’Bryan praised his boys.
“Teams always throw stuff at us and we always seem to respond,” he said.
O’Bryan said the game could have gone either way and urged his players to not get ahead of themselves.
He said the Panthers must continue to show composure under pressure if they are to win the flag in a fortnight.
“We are going to have to raise the bar again,” O’Byran said.
