Knights Season Kicks off This Week

Head Coach Announced for Gippsland Knights
Eugene Lawrenz works as Football Federation Victoria’s Development Officer for Gippsland, and now takes on the role of Head Coach for the Gippsland Knights in the 2010-2011 VCL season. Eugene recently moved to Traralgon from Canberra, where he gained a lot of experience as a coach, most recently working with the ACTAS women’s program which included several Matildas and Young Matildas. Eugene has also taken two ACT Futsal teams to National Championship grand finals, worked as a Technical Director of a club in Canberra with over 1000 players, as well as being involved in Australian Sport Commission programs and Arsenal FC’s Australian Soccer School. Eugene is qualified as an advanced level coach and coaching course presenter.
Gippsland Knights have once again recruited some of the top local coaches for the upcoming season, many returning from last year. There are also several new faces on board, giving the program a good mix of coaches with a lot of experience and others with a lot of potential to go on to bigger and better things in the future. The VCL will be heavily focused on providing players with optimal learning environment for their development and progress, and this will be reflected in the updated training program and match approach being put in place this year. Everyone involved should look forward to an exciting season with many ups and downs, but most of all lots of fun and lots of great football being played.
All Age Groups Represented in Strong Knights Line up
The Gippsland Knights have pleasure in announcing that we will be fielding a team in all eight age groups for the upcoming VCL season.

U13 Girls (Born 1998)
U15 Girls (Born 1996 or 1997)
U17 Girls* (Born in 1994 or 1995)

* Note that a specified number of overage women will be permitted in the Under 17 Girls category and therefore players of all ages are invited to trial.

U13 Boys (Born 1998)
U14 Boys (Born 1997)
U15 Boys (Born 1996)
U17 Boys (Born 1994 or 1995)
U20 Boys (Born 1991, 92 or 93)
Trial Dates Times and Venues
Gippsland Knights trials for the 2010/11 Victorian Champions League have been confirmed for Wednesday 8th September, Monday 13th September & Wednesday 15th September 2010.
All three trials will be held at Latrobe City Sports & Entertainment Complex, Crinigan Road Morwell. (Falcons 2000 soccer club)

Registrations for this years VCL season will take place at 5.30pm Wednesday 8th September, just prior to the first trial session.
All trial sessions will finish at 8pm.
