Three car smash near Wonthaggi

TWO women have been airlifted to hospital and a further three injured in a three car crash on the outskirts of Wonthaggi.

Paramedics were called to the Bass Highway just before 10.30am today.

All of the people involved were in a stable condition.

The women were flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Alfred Hospital’s respectively.

A three-year-old girl was taken to Wonthaggi Hospital. She had stomach injuries and seatbelt bruising.

A third woman, 40, suffered lower back injuries, while a fourth woman, believed to be about 80, had a shoulder injury.

A man, also believed to be about 80, was taken to Wonthaggi Hospital to accompany the women.

The Bass Highway was closed between Wonthaggi and Inverloch for more than three hours.

The car crash: three cars were involved in a serious incident on the outskirts of Wonthaggi earlier this afternoon (Friday).
