Weather Warning
THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood watch warning for South Gippsland.
Heavy rain is expected to hit the region over the next couple of days with daily rainfall rates of 20 to 50mm forecasted.
Throughout 2011, South Gippsland has already received well over the average rainfall for the year with multiple hits of wild weather.
This included flooding in March, which caused the closure of some sections of Wilsons Promontory.
Residents are reminded that this is a flood watch warning, not a flood warning, and means that flooding is possible, but not certain.
In the interest of community safety, the SES suggests some precautions; these include not walking, riding or driving though the floodwater; not allowing children to play in flood water; keeping clear of water ways and stormwater drains and keeping well away from fallen power lines.
