Woman rescued from flood

A woman was rescued from her car after becoming trapped in the flooded Tarwin River at Middle Tarwin this morning.

Tarwin Lower CFA volunteers and an earthmoving contractor from De Merlo’s drove a front-end loader into the river, along Tarwin Lower-Buffalo Road.

The woman climbed from her car window and aboard the loader.

She was unharmed but her Toyota Camry remains in the water, on the road.

Brigade captain Robb Lawrie urged motorists to not drive through floodwater.

Many roads are closed due to floodwaters throughout the region.
