Shire Council gave $136,840 towards community projects at last night\u2019s community grants presentation evening.<\/p>\n<p>Round two of the grants program funded such projects as a ride-on lawn mower at the Nyora Recreation Reserve, a drive-in movie pool party at Mirboo North and the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen groups applied for funding from the new small equipment grants category and six were successful.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for funding in the first round of 2013-14 close on August 30.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation ceremony was held in the council chambers, Leongatha.<\/p>\n<p>Grant recipients were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Poowong Historical Group, $3000 to replace fence at Poowong Pioneer Chapel;<\/li>\n<li>Poowong Recreation Reserve, $1975 towards Poowong Recreation Reserve master plan;<\/li>\n<li>Poowong Public Hall, $7000 to refurbish toilets\/change room;<\/li>\n<li>Nyora Recreation Reserve, $5000 towards new ride-on lawn mower;<\/li>\n<li>Korumburra City Soccer Club, $4900, removable goal posts;<\/li>\n<li>South Gippsland Shire Brass Band, $1000 towards learners instruments;<\/li>\n<li>South Coast Active Communities, $1500, Connect Local Communities to be Active;<\/li>\n<li>Meeniyan Tourism and Traders Association, $2000, Meeniyan on Fire Street Festival;<\/li>\n<li>Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, $4250, mower;<\/li>\n<li>Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival, $5000, festival costs;<\/li>\n<li>Fish Creek Bowls Club, $10,000, refurbishment of men\u2019s toilet;<\/li>\n<li>South Gippsland Tourist Railway,
